Thursday afternoon 8th December 2016 saw the finale of this round of our annual Student Awards competition based on an ‘Innovative Idea’.
Once again we had a varied mix of ideas with ‘goods’ and ‘services’ and a combination of both.
Our format for this round sought 3 winners but not far behind were two ‘special commendations’ from our judging panel.
Forming our judging panel were; our very own Tom Rooney (ITT Synergy), James Bourke (Dolmen Associates), and Des English (LEO-South Dublin) our sponsors for the annual Student Awards.
As usual, it was tough-going and we wish to applaud all our competition shortlist and participating students. We know from talking to many of them they all got something from their practical experiences so far from the workshops to this process on their entrepreneur journey.
Each entry had a two-minute pitch of their idea followed by questions from our judging panel.
After two hours of pitching, then concluding with deliberations, our judges managed to reach their final decisions.
We’d like to congratulate our winners. The final results and awards are as follows…..
1.Gold 1st €350 – Amy Byrne, Romy Leitch, and Dean Hennessy-McCabe from Marketing (Fresh kitchen home delivery service)
2.Silver 2nd €250 – Jason Kavanagh from Marketing (Pet tracking device)
3.Bronze 3rd €150 – Helena Nhi (Le Bao Nhi Hoang) from Computing (Mini photo printer)
‘Special commendations’ by the judges acknowledged of two of our competition entrant teams for their efforts. These were close to those three already mentioned:
–Jamie McMahon – Business (Micro-Brewery)
–Josho Nandy-Wismans, Kyra Schep, and Lina Chaghouri – Marketing – Erasmus (Student Campus App)
